The 2022 GMC Acadia arrives at doorsteps with new 18-inch and 20-inch wheel designs, now standard GMC Pro Safety Plus and Traction Select features, along with a new exterior color: Light Stone Metallic. Additionally, GMC dropped the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine in favor of the now base 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine.
On the outside, the 2022 Acadia features LED headlamps and taillamps that house GMC’s signatured C-shape design. The Elevation and Denali Ultimate packages further enhance the Acadia’s exterior with blacked-out features, such as black grille inserts, black wheels, black mirror end caps, and available black GMC badging.
The Acadia’s cabin centers around a standard 8-inch color touchscreen. Other features include a Wi-Fi hotspot, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay®, navigation, and built-in Amazon Alexa capabilities. The Acadia seats up to seven people. The seats feature smart slide second-row seats and 50/50 third-row seats that can fold flat for extra storage. Storage is in abundance throughout thanks to a second-row stage drawer, under-console storage, and under-the-floor cargo area storage. Max cargo is 79 cubic feet with the second and third row seats folded and 41.7 cubic with the third row folded.
The Acadia is powered by a base turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 228 horsepower. An optional 3.6-liter V6 engine produces 310 horsepower. Both engines pair with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on either engine. All-wheel drive is optional.
The Acadia comes with a standard GMC Pro Safety Plus package that boasts of automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, auto high beams, rear park assist, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, forward collision, alert, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, and rear cross traffic alert.
The GMC Acadia was the first front-wheel-drive passenger vehicle from GMC. The Acadia was based on the GM Lambda platform. Introduced in 2007, the Acadia is also GMC’s first unibody vehicle, which offers a better drive and better fuel economy than the Yukon and Sierra. The Acadia received a face lift in 2013. The second generation of the Acadia began in 2017.
