GM Super Cruise FAQ in Greeley, CO

Everything You Need to Know About Super Cruise

If you’ve just purchased a new 2024 or later model of the GMC Sierra or the Yukon and you’re eager to test out all of the cutting-edge features, here’s everything you need to know about GM Super Cruise before you take your hands off the wheel for the first time.

What is GM Super Cruise?

GM Super Cruise was the first widely available hands-free driving system in the world. It uses a blend of technologies that include LiDAR mapping, GPS, cameras, and radars to create a semi-autonomous driving experience. When active, Super Cruise monitors your vehicle’s position within the lane and your distance from the vehicle ahead. Then, it uses automatic steering and speed control to keep you centered in the lane and at a safe following distance. It balances these two tasks while maintaining a preset speed so that you can relax and enjoy the ride.

Do I have to stay attentive while using Super Cruise?

While the Super Cruise system takes over the primary functions of navigating, you are required to remain alert to handle emergency situations and navigate around obstacles. To ensure timely navigation, a driver attention monitoring feature is included with Super Cruise. If the system detects that you’re not paying adequate attention, you’ll receive three escalating alerts before Super Cruise slows and stops the vehicle, disengages, and connects you with OnStar. This is for your safety and the safety of everyone else on the road.

Where can I use Super Cruise?

As of this writing, there are more than 240,000 miles of Super Cruise-enabled roadways spread throughout the United States and Canada. In the Greeley, CO area, several major roadways have already been authorized for Super Cruise usage, and more are added every year. A few notable roadways include:
