The 2024 GMC Acadia models rolling off the assembly line and into Weld County Garage GMC are going to take up a little more space on our lot, and we couldn’t be happier. As the three-row crossover enters its third generation, GMC takes cues from fans and stretches the wheelbase by nearly a foot. The GMC Acadia has always been known for being a well-rounded family vehicle with features parents gush about. You can’t beat a dual-screen rear entertainment system keeping your kids too occupied to bicker. (Ah, the sweet sound of silence). The spacious interior environs give drivers a taste of the lavish life with a scattering of ritzy materials and finely crafted fit and finish. You’ll find available heated and ventilated front and second-row outboard seats wrapped in perforated leather, laser-etched wood décor with Galvano chrome accents, and a huge pillar-to-pillar sunroof bathing the whole cabin in sunlight. On top of that, tech, convenience, driver assistance, and safety features have never been lacking, but for 2024, everything gets an upgrade. Check it out.
Let’s start with the overall size of the Acadia. The 2024 model is wider, longer, and taller. Overall, the full length of the vehicle has grown by a total of 10.6 inches and is now 204 inches. The wheelbase has been stretched by 8.4 inches, giving you 120.9 inches. The Acadia is also 3.2 inches taller.
How do those numbers translate to daily use? For starters, all seven to eight passengers in your vehicle will have plenty of legroom and headroom no matter where they sit. And if you’re all heading out for a weekend camping adventure with the family, it will be a whole lot easier. With 80 percent more cargo room behind the rear seat and 40 percent more behind the second row, you can go all-out on bags and gear. So, if you’re more of a glamper than a camper, toting along your full-size air mattress, blow-up couch, and fold-away fan will be a breeze. Plus, the 18-inch wheels and extra inch of cargo space on the AT4 trim means you can go further off-road, navigating obstacles like a pro.
The wheelbase isn’t the only thing that has grown. The standard 8-inch infotainment system in the 2023 model is now a 15-inch customizable touchscreen with Google Built-in. It’s accompanied by an 11-inch digital gauge cluster and an available 8-inch diagonal head-up display. The available premium sound system gets four more speakers for a standard 12-speaker Bose® surround sound experience (a 16-speaker system is available).
Under the hood, the Acadia is packing a potent turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder, pumping out 328 horsepower and 326 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is married to a slick 8-speed automatic transmission and front- or all-wheel drive. Standard on the AT4 trim is an off-road-tuned suspension, active torque control, and a traction select system with terrain modes.
As far as the lineup of safety features goes, the list of standard features is longer than before.
In addition, the Acadia is now available with SuperCruise, GM’s hands-free driver-assistance feature with automatic lane-changing.
