Check Your Vehicle for Open Recalls
Pick your year, make and model. We will show you every safety recall the federal government has issued for that vehicle, straight from the NHTSA database. Any make, not just GMC. No VIN to dig up, no email, no phone number, no catch.
Recall Lookup
Three dropdowns. You do not need your VIN or your license plate.
Data comes directly from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Recalls are issued by year, make and model, so this shows what has been recalled on a vehicle like yours. Confirming which campaigns apply to your exact vehicle takes a VIN check, and we will run that for you in a couple of minutes. If this tool does not load, you can search by VIN at NHTSA.gov.
The short version
A safety recall means the manufacturer found a defect and must fix it at no charge to you, with no time limit and no mileage limit. Weld County Garage performs GMC recall work free of charge at our Greeley shop. Pick your year, make and model above to see every campaign on file.
What you should know
Recall Work Is Free. Always.
People put off recall notices because they assume it is a sales pitch or a bill waiting to happen. It is neither, and the rules here are not up to the dealer.
How recalls actually work
- You pay nothing. The manufacturer covers parts and labor. There is no deductible and no upsell attached to it.
- There is no expiry on safety recalls. A 2014 campaign on a vehicle you bought used last month is still the manufacturer’s responsibility.
- It does not matter where you bought it. Any franchised dealer for that brand can perform the work.
- Some are fixed over the air now. If the campaign is a software update, your vehicle may fix itself without a visit.
What we can do for you
- We perform GM recall work on GMC, Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac at our Greeley shop.
- We will check your VIN against the manufacturer system and tell you exactly what is open on your vehicle.
- Not a GM vehicle? We will still tell you what we find and point you to the right dealer, because it is the useful thing to do.
- Combine the trip. If you are due for maintenance anyway, we can handle the recall on the same visit. Our current service coupons cover the rest.

Recall Questions We Get
Does a recall repair cost me anything?
No. Safety recalls are paid for by the manufacturer, including parts and labor. There is no charge to you and no deductible, whether you bought the vehicle here or not.
My vehicle is old. Is the recall still covered?
Yes. Federal safety recalls do not expire and have no mileage limit. If a campaign was issued for your vehicle and it was never performed, it is still owed to you.
I bought the vehicle used. Does that change anything?
No. Recalls follow the vehicle, not the owner. This is a common reason people have open recalls without knowing it, because the notice went to whoever owned it at the time.
What is the difference between a recall and a service campaign?
A safety recall addresses a defect that poses a risk and is mandated by NHTSA. A service campaign, sometimes called a special coverage or a technical service bulletin, is a manufacturer program for a known issue that is not a safety risk. Coverage on those varies, so ask us and we will look it up.
Why does this tool ask for year, make and model instead of my VIN or plate?
Because recalls are issued by year, make and model, so those three answers give you the real list without hunting for anything. A VIN would only decode down to the same three answers, and no public database reports recall status for one specific VIN, so a VIN box would promise a precision it could not deliver. Plate lookups are worse: that data is not public, so it means paying a broker and handing over your details. Confirming which campaigns apply to your exact vehicle is the part we do for you, free, from your VIN.
How do I find my VIN?
Look at the lower corner of the windshield on the driver’s side, or the sticker in the driver’s door jamb. It is also printed on your insurance card and your registration. It is 17 characters.
Do you do recall work on vehicles you did not sell?
Yes. Any franchised GM dealer can perform GM recall work regardless of where the vehicle was purchased.
How long does a recall repair take?
It depends entirely on the campaign. Some are a software update measured in minutes, some need a part ordered in first. Call us with your VIN at (970) 400-9952 and we will tell you before you commit to a visit.

Recall data supplied by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is refreshed by NHTSA, not by us. This lookup reports campaigns issued for a year, make and model. Confirmation that a specific vehicle is included in a campaign requires the VIN and comes from the manufacturer.
