The 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 is GMC’s full-size half-ton pickup — the truck that splits the difference between a daily driver, a weekend toy hauler, and a serious work platform. It shares a chassis with the Chevy Silverado 1500 but stakes out its own identity through trim-specific engineering: an off-road-bred AT4X with Multimatic DSSV dampers, a Denali Ultimate that genuinely competes with European luxury SUVs, and a MultiPro Tailgate that’s still the cleverest pickup tailgate on the market.

There are eight trims, four engines (the 2.7L TurboMax I-4, 5.3L V8, 6.2L V8, and 3.0L Duramax inline-six diesel), short and standard beds, and three cab configurations. Picking the right combination is more involved than it should be — which is exactly why this page exists.

Below you’ll find every Sierra 1500 article we’ve published, organized so you can find what you need fast. Whether you’re cross-shopping the Sierra against a Silverado or an F-150, trying to decide between AT4 and AT4X for Colorado off-road weekends, or just figuring out whether the Duramax diesel is worth the upcharge over the 5.3L V8 — start here.

At a Glance

The Sierra 1500 is the half-ton truck for buyers who want Silverado capability with GMC-grade refinement and trim-level differentiation.

Eight trims (Pro → Denali Ultimate). Four engines including a 6.2L V8 making 420 hp and a 3.0L Duramax diesel returning up to 26 mpg highway. Max tow capacity reaches 13,200 lb on properly equipped Crew Cab models with the 6.2L V8 and Max Trailering Package. Starting MSRP varies widely by trim — from work-truck Pro pricing to Denali Ultimate territory north of $90,000.
